I have an Ugartechea 20 ga SxS and I have suffered a broken firing pin. It has "disk set strikers". How hard is it to change these types of pins and do they need to be fitted? Can a gunsmith turn a new one on a lathe? What does an operation like this usually run? Should I get a couple made for good measure?

Firing pins cost between $65 and $150 to make depending on complexity. If it is fairly current make try contacting Aspen Outfitting Company in the USA. They import these guns from Spain under their own name. That’s probably the cheapest way to go. I hear email is free. =)) Rod

If what you mean by "disk set" is a bushing threaded into the face of the action, you're better off doing as Rod suggests. Getting these plates off requires a special tool, often in an air ratchet. If you're handy and want to do the work yourself, you can make the tool, but make sure you use hardened pins and space them accurately.

I can’t believe I screwed up! I should have told you to order the firing pin bushing tool when you ordered the pins. Also the return springs. Sorry about that. Dang thing would probably only be $50 to buy but it will cost you $1000 to make. Rod
