Hi all. So, I was just working on a bolt for a friend and the mainspring was very weak. So as I attempted to stretch it, it fell apart as it was very rusty. Anyways, I was wondering if there is anywhere a person could go buy a spring to use (Canadian Tire, Home Depot, etc), or would this be a specific spring. The best I know of is that the spring inner diameter is 5/16", and the spring material itself is about 1/16". About 2" long. Thank you.

Make and model of gun?
I have odds and ends of springs, but more information would help.
ID, OD length, compression?

Mossberg Model 40
ID - 5/16 (.3125)
OD - 7/17 (.4375)
Length - Was compressed and weak when I got it, but would say 1 1/4 - 1 1/2"
Compression spring, yes. (If this is what you were asking)

Thank you.

One of the best buys out there is go to Princess auto and brows the surplus section. They used to have a bag of 100 assorted springs for under $10.00.

Well, finger crossed, music wire spring is now in tempering mode in the oven. Should know more tomorrow if this works.
