Ok this could be a dumb question but I'm going to ask anyways. Is it at all possible that a bronze brush will scratch a bore on a microscopic level. Even though the steel is harder than bronze would the brush still haze the surface. I think what I'm most curious about is that if one were to stop using brushes and just mop the bore with a quality product like wipeout for example, would the bore become more "polished" over time and foul less or at least be easier to clean, would a polished bore make it more difficult for the jacket copper to "grab".

I realize a bazillion people are using bronze brushes with no problems, but curious if there is any truth to this theory.

I've never tried nylon brushes, do they work well?

thanks

there are most likely tons of opinions on this but overuse of bonze brushes may be detrimental to the rifling. I use a brush once a year on my center fires but i would not use one on my rimfires. I don't want to damage the fine rifling buy scrubbing too much. In fact, I clean the bore on my 22s with nitro solvent and patches perhaps twice a year but clean the action and everything else properly. If you use broze brush, wrap it in a patch and then scrub gently.
