brooks and son, m/l double barrel shotgun

A freind of mine gave me an old muzzle loading shotgun. It is double barrel and in tough shape.
The only marking I can find is brooks and son on the rh side lock plate.
The little digging I did found the name of Edgar Brooks operating as Brooks and Son in England.
Can anyone confirm for me that indeed this is one and the same and maybe tell me more about this gun?
It is smaller than a 12g as well.
 
If you can remove the barrels, the gauge will have been stamped at time of proof testing.
