Yes, they made quite a number of them before and between the wars for commercial sale. Where do you think the young Winston Churchill got the one he used? Early in the century they where quite popular.

very common back then for young officers to buy their own kit. Also I spoke to someone that had friend buy a .45acp one from the lot that Lever Arms brought over from China years ago. I would love to find one of those in a estate sale.
