So, my brother-in-law's Browning Silver needs some work.
Might there be some over-arching issue that could combine all three of these problems into one root cause? He expects he needs to buy a new mag tube at the least; personally, I suspect a thread chaser could sort the mag tube out, along with a new tube cap. But the other problems seem wonky.
- The threads on the magazine tube seem slightly buggered, and the tube cap threads appear even more buggered (I think it's aluminum and the tube itself is steel). Brother-in-law is a careful guy and has no idea how it happened, although presumably poor maintenance is somehow to blame? Otherwise, is there some way this can happen just through usage?
- The bolt seems very stiff to come back.
- He can barely get the barrel out of the action.
