Hey guys,
I'm writing this as information to anyone looking to buy any universal parts from Brownells which could be used on an AR-15 or variant of an AR-15. I had ordered an Ace Skeleton stock for my remington 870 shotgun as it uses an AR stock adapter in July of this year as it said it was able to ship from Brownells without restriction and it was in stock, no where in Canada had them that i could find. I placed my order and in a few days it was shipped up and arrived in the International Processing Centre in Mississauga. July 30 the package says, arrived in Canada and will be presented for review. I thought no problem, its a universal part and it should be through to me in the next couple days. I waited two weeks for this to change with no update and so i called the processing centre and asked if they could give me a status update. They informed me that as it was a firearm part and it was for a prohibited weapon that it has to be submitted to the RCMP to see if it is allowed to be imported into the country. I told them it was a universal part that was for my shotgun and they said that they know that it can be used on many different firearms but they have to submit it to the RCMP. It is now mid october and i just called asking for an update on my package and they said that it has been submitted for review and it could take 6 months to a year to hear back from the RCMP. I asked if they could ship it back to the states so i can get a refund and they told me that there is nothing i can do until they get a decision on the package. Now the CBSA people have been fantastic and helpful and i have absolutely no issue with them at all, but it is absolutely crazy that bringing in a few tubes of metal with some plastic and foam that can be used on tons of different firearms and is not regulated by any firearms licenses has be be submitted for review and held hostage for a year.
Sorry for the rant, but just wanted to let people know to not order anything that may be possibly used on an AR or variant and expect to receive it this year.
