Browning 1885 tang sight.

I recently purchased this rifle here on the EE. The rifle came with what appears to be a factory installed tang sight. The base is still on the rifle but the sight is missing. I'm looking at options for replacing the sight
or removing this base and installing a MVA or Shaver tang sight. I can't see how this base is attached to the rifle, no screws showing!!!

Any help provided is greatly appreciated.

Does not look like the MVA midrange sight on my Hi Wall but a phone call to MVA might solve your mystery. Failing that contact Western Gun Parts in Edmonton: they are the repository of almost anything Browning in Canada.

Well I don't think Browning 78s have a tang. My guess is that if you pull the stock off you will find where it fastens and that the stock has been milled to match it. Been wrong before though. Lol
