I just got mine. it's a handsome firearm, I love the way it fits in my hand, but I must admit, I'm disappointed with the finish. never been used and so many of the edges weren't blued or have already had the bluing worn off from the few times I've racked it back. both the top and the bottom of the trigger, which has never been pulled has bluing wear as does the slide lock. I know there are much more expensive pistols out there, but for a $600 anniversary edition, this seems sad. it's my first pistol...so I don't know if this would be 'cause for return'. my inclination is no, but I'm an easy going guy.

that said, breaking it down, I find the recoil spring guide and recoil plug are plastic. how much does this piece affect accuracy or the smooth function of the firearm? it's probably an odd size, due to the 75% nature of this clone, but does anyone know if there are metal options available?

thanks...even if your answers are to calm my mind over the apparent wear showing. :)

it is...but I've run into a problem. taking it apart was easy, but I can't get the slide lock pin to fit. I can flip it on the otherside of the gun, it goes in...pointing down beside the trigger, it goes in, but not when it's parallel to the slide.

The finish sucks. Best advice is to get over it. All guns finished in blue will wear much more quickly than most other "specialized finished".

I own one and they're a cool little gun. As for replacement parts, good luck. Browning claims that they're "test gun" shot 30K rounds before it had any problems. I wish they would come out with an extended beavertail for it, however.

I can live with it. *shrug*

what about reassembly? I can't get the slide lock pin back in. it just won't go. I lubed, wiggled, jiggled and it just won't go.

slips in fine from the other end and at a 90 angle to the slide by the trigger, but not parallel. it just won't go. :(

What?

I've never had a problem taking mine apart or putting it back together. Browning has a dissasembly/reassembly video on their video.

No problems here either... The only wearing I have on mine is on the trigger, but only a bit... Other wise it is mint and I have shot over 1K rounds...

Simply love it..

I just got one for my wife and so far its had a couple of hundred rounds put through it. The finish has some minor defects, mostly on sharp edges near ejector hole which shows the shiny aluminum through. I think the finish is a powder coat since bluing is a chemical process on steel and the frame is aluminum. I also found inserting the slide lock pin awkward at first until I found out that manipulating the slide position back and forth until you can clearly see the alignment of the barrel boss with the slide hole. When everything lines up perfectly the pin slips in effortlessly.

Have put over 3500 rounds through mine with only 5 fail to fire which I attributed to the bulk ammo. I have fed it everything from subsonics to CCI Mini mags and they all functioned well. I have some slight wear on the finish but nothing to complain about. Dis-assembly and re-assembly has been trouble free as well.
Awesome little .22.
