Browning 1911-22

I think I'm going to buy one in the new year for my 10 year old grandson to shoot. How many mags does the pistol come with? How's the availabilty of extra mags?

Extra mags don't seem to be a problem to get, at least that is what I am being told and the retailer I am buying it from i don't think would mislead me. Made the plunge yesterday and am going to purchase one. Just looks like a fun little gun to burn cheap ammo up in!!

Extra mags have been a problem. Recently P&D in Edmonton received a good quantity and were able to fill their back orders (I was on that list for almost a year) and still have some on the shelf so perhaps the drought is over.

Looking for some opions out there on owners of the Browning 1911-22. Any pros or cons would be appreciated.

thanks

I purchased one for my wife who was a gun novice last February. After putting more than 1000 rounds though it she felt comfortable enough to try my 9mm and then asked for one herself, she now owns and shoots a Glock 17. There is nothing more satisfying than watching the faces of a newbie trying it for the first time. A few months ago we let a 5 year old try it with his dads close supervision and the kid was really stoked about it. The only fault I see with it is that it only comes with one magazine and it doesn't seem to like some types of hollow point ammo causing misfeeds. Never have an issue with 40 grain solid Federal HV and lots of problems with 36 grain hollow points. Was able to purchase 2 extra mags mail order directly from Brownings web site.
