i ve got one of these shotguns made in belgium. On the barrel its stamped special steel, i know this is an old gun but ehat does that mean?

It means the steel is a high grade or quality used by FN to make the barrel. The same steel Browning put in all of it's shotguns in the day. The B2000 has only been around for about 35 years or so. Great gun, well engineered and very reliable.

Browning does not recommend steel shot in it supposedly because of soft steel. However, I'd bet there are hunters out there using steel shot in theirs with no ill effect providing the choke is not full choke.

Mine is choked MODIFIED. Browning advises it is good to go with numbered steel #1 through 6, but no lettered steel. ie: BB BBB T or F. My gun handles it very well.
