Good morning; this is my very first post. Ordinarily, I do my hunting with a hawk. I am a falconer. I have been hunting for about 35 years. I live north of Whitby on 60 plus acres.
I have another good falconer friend as well. But he has helped to get me interested in coyote hunting. I literally have them on my property and regularly see them on the game cam.
Cutting to the chase. I have read as much as I could and have gone to a number of gun shops and found the gun that was felt the best was a Browning .243 semi.

This would be my first rifle. I do know that bolt action rifles are considered more accurate. But as I said, the Browning felt good in my hands. I have read everything I could on the rifle. It is considered a very good rifle. Very accurate for a semi. It does not jam as long as you perform proper maintenance. It must be good...........I can't find one now that I have decided to purchase. i really like the wood satin stock.

Any idea where I might find a good used one or a new one? I of course will need a scope so your feedback there would be appreciated as well.

I invite any of your comments. I am the first to admit, I don't pretend to know a lot so this is forum is a good place to learn.

Welcome abored.........newbie.
Apply for access to the EE.....aka.........Equipmint Exchange.
BAR's are out there, but nawt too often duzz one see a BAR in .243win.
And for the price of them, one could git hizzelf a nice yote` bolt action.
A Bawbie that will reach out there.

Thanks, I had one in my hands earlier in the year and (no pun intended) wasn't ready to pull the trigger.
Went back and it was gone. Not surprising the more I learn about the gun. For those interested. Browning is coming out with an updated version of the BAR .243 auto, so you can't get a new gun from Browning until the new version appears.

Nothing wrong with a semi for yotes - we sell the odd BAR in 243, a few more 750 Rem's in 243 (probably because they are a little cheaper), but if you like the feel of the Browning you can pop away "in style" - very nice rifles.

And when you hit the yote and he does a somersault, he don't that you "didn't" hit him with a bolt gun...

Have a friend who has used the Browning BAR in 243 for more than 20 years on coyotes. He is deadly with it........Has killed many coyotes on the run ahead of the hounds...Bullet of choice for him is Nosler 70 grain Ballistic Tip.

Good luck on your quest for a Browning Bar. They are like gold to find and I will never sell mine which is the realm of that rifle in .243
I also am looking for another one but nowhere to be found in Canada or the US. If you are shooting at a coyote standing still go for a bolt in .223 or .243. I shoot them running wide open throttle most of the time and thats why I use a semi. I do have nice bolt Tikka Hunter .223 that I have never used if you are interested.
Good luck and happy hunting for both quarries.
