My buddy dropped off his old Browning A-5 and said it was having ejection issues. He thinks the ejector was worn and knew I was going to be going by the smith's so I'm gonna drop it off.
I got looking at it and doing some reading, seems it may just be missing some friction bands? It's a 1976 3" magnum. Am I right that it should have 3 friction bands and 2 steel rings? It seems to only have 1 band that is beveled on both sides and one steel ring. I'm not too familiar with these guns so all of my info is just what I got from googling the problem.
Here's the parts I have

Here's how they were set up

The mag tube is pretty dry so I was going to lube it up well and try it out on Sunday, but looking on some input about these friction bands. Do I need to tell him to order a couple parts?

It should have 3 of the steel Friction Rings and 2 of the bronze Friction Piece. The rings in the pic are assembled wrong, the Friction Piece goes against the barrel and the flat side of the Friction Ring goes against the Recoil Spring. Lube the mag tube sparingly and do not shoot magnum loads, 2¾ or 3", until it is set-up properly.

The browning website is what has me confused. I looked at the picture but it's a drawing and difficult to make out how many pieces there should be. So the black ring goes flat side against the muzzle end of the spring and then the brass piece on top of that? and for light loads the black ring goes on the other end of the spring and the brass piece stays at the top? Or do we need to order more parts?

My mid 80's A-5 three inch mag has a map inside the fore wood
detailing the bits and pieces and how they are located for specific loads.
Take a peek.
