Browning A-5 ~question~

Got this Browning c/w pins and have no idea why they were installed, unless they held a shell catcher.

Those are not factory items.
Purpose is beyond my scope of thinking.
Open the bolt and looky inside.
What are they attached to or holding in place?

They appear to be threaded in and have holes that would accommodate pins (maybe to hold something)

Possibly for some kind of shell catcher for trap shooting? Judging by the markings whatever was attached it saw a fair amount of use.

I agree the most reasonable explainion would be some type of shell catcher . I wonder if it would have been an after market device or something some one mcguyvered .

Thank you all for the help and I am in agreement. Have scoured the net looking for Browning Catchers and come up empty.
The previous owner was a machinist with a small shop at home and I believe it is likely of his own design.
