What is the difference between the a-bolt I and the a-bolt II? I assume the a-bolt I's are older but are there any physical differences in looks or functionality?

The A-bolt ll has 3 aluminum sleeves that run the length of the bolt and line up with the 3 locking lugs when being inserted into the receiver. The original A-Bolt didn't have these sleeves. These sleeves are supposed to prevent the bolt from binding and make the action a little smoother to operate. I believe the triggers are different too but don't quote me on that one. But from what I can remember is that the A-Bolt trigger wasn't adjustable while the A-Bolt ll can be adjusted by a gunsmith.

Thanks for the replies. So the A-bolt I has a round bolt and not the flat 3 sided one I see on the new A-bolts? Are they still smooth? Reasonable trigger, shoot well?

The A-Bolt is a solid hunting rifle. If you find one at a reasonable price I don't think you will be disappointed with the action or the accuracy.
