A friend is selling a Browning A bolt Medallion chambered in 270 Win, topped with a Redfield low profile 3-9x40 scope. Just wondering if anyone has opinions on what it's worth. From his description it sounds to be in good condition. Also interested in opinions on the accuracy and reliability of these guns and opinions on 270 Win.

I was going to buy an A-bolt 22.250 a couple weeks ago for $600.00
It was a Medallian too and had lots of love given to it.
$100.00 more than I really thought it was worth, but it had a place to go in my safe.
Then I came to my senses and bought the Kimber Super American.
$500.00, others will disagree or not.

The online reviews look positive. Anything out of the ordinary that a guy should look for? It's been a safe queen since he got his Tikka so I'm hoping he oiled it up before he put it away. Might try to get a look at it on the weekend.

Those A-Bolts are excellent shooters. I have one in 22-250. It's the most consistant accurate rifle I've ever owned. The only issue I see is that the mag system is a bit complicated and fiddly to use. Otherwise , I think them to be a $600 rifle or.a bit more.

Go buy a current new rifle and see what you get for $600.

I think a new base AB3 with no optic is $700ish for blued synthetic. Didn't do a lot of market research yet. I'm assuming this is a second gen a bolt. Hope to test drive it soon and see where the price ends up.

Just to muddy the waters a gun friend dropped by with a Parker Hale 1200 c in 270 win yesterday. Has to be in near 90 some percent condition. Absolutely gorgeous wood stock. Mauser style action. Thoughts on that. His asking price is lower. Comes with rings and a scope ( not the one currently on it) but I also have a brand new Nikon sitting around....

Nothing wrong with PH guns. Decent accuracy. The bolt lift is 30degrees higher than an A-bolt, so your scope will sit higher to clear. This may mean you have to use a cheek piece on the butt to get your eye in line with the scope properly. I love the PH rifles, but found the stocks to not mitigate recoil as well as other designs, unless it has a newer recoil pad. The vented ones they usually come with suck.
