I've come into possession of an A bolt in 270. Before I go off to sell a limb in exchange for ammo, have you owners of such a critter found a weight, bullet type and brand which the gun seems to respond best with.
I m thinking deer size but I figure best all round is best for me.
Thank You in advance for any imput.

Any C&C 130-150gr you can find at CT or Walmart would be where I'd start. Fed Blue Box, R-P Corelokts, WW PPs etc.

Pick the one that shoots the best and that is easily replaced. ....... Deer hunting doesn't require magical bullets.

My buddy has an A-Bolt in 270, the load we worked up for it is a 130 gr Barnes TSX. His particular rifle shoots this bullet quite well, and will easily work on larger game like elk or moose. Personally I'm of the opinion that the 270 and 130 gr bullets are made for each other.

Have you had a look at Whelanlads thread with his left handed 270 A-bolt II ???
Might give you some ideas or frighten you one way or the other.
