What is the difference between the medallion and the regular version? Is it purely looks?

I once had the medallion in 270 win,It sure looked nice and it shot really well.But,and there is always a but you know.When my buddy saw it glisten in the sun three fields away I flipped it.The hunter version with the flat no glare finish seemed a better option.

In hindsight I could of sanded the stock and refinished with a less offensive finish.

I have always really liked Brownings except for the gloss!

I found one for my LH son.Someone had it shortened,likely far too much,so I got it at a fair price for used rifle. The gun shop owner thoought it was only a year or two old,remembering the owner asking about rifles. I thought it was kinda beat,but after one easy hunt,it was twice as beat. That gloss finish shattered,I added to the stock and refinished with a hand rubbed tung oil. The checkering is metric BTW.
