my next door neighbor is a good old guy in his 70's. We were having a chat at the fence today, and he was telling me he wants to clear out a few guns he doesn't use. He has a Browning A bolt .22lr that he bought new in the 80's and has never shot. It is the model with the factory sights and Rosewood highlights on the tip of the stock and end of the grip, still has the factory box. It's a beautiful gun, and in almost perfect condition.
I really have no idea what it is worth, but I told him I would ask here, as I'm sure a few of you will have a good idea of its value?
He also has a Remington Nylon 66, also brand new from the 80's, any idea on that also?
Thanks in advance, just don't want him to get ripped off when he goes to sell them, he is a damn fine neighbor :)

I reckon about $1000....maybe even bit more from the right person as unfired and almost perfect cond. Be interesting to hear what others think.

The A-Bolt could be worth close to $1000 to the right buyer if it's unfired. Condition dictates everything. A small impression or scratch in the stock detracts from value quickly.
They are a nice rifle and do have a following.
The Remington 66 is another one that some like. Again, condition dictates price.

I feel $1000 is a little steep for the A-Bolt with $800 or so being closer to the mark. The Remington, $350 to $400......I can't believe I just said that but minty Nylons seem to be commanding such prices. Whether or not people are actually paying that price remains to be seen.

A Grand for a Hunter is a tad a bit over top Dollar.
There are three in the EE iirc and none less than $200.00 less than the current valuation.
They do have a following and magazines are available for them as well...they can run to $100.00 though.
Condition is everything as is availability and demand.
I have had 2 Sporters, one in .22LR and the other in.22magnum.
