So,what’s involved in changing a barrel on one of these?

And can someone tell me why the action is so smooth, on my XBolt,?
Compared to My gritty/sh!tty savage 10:)

The stainless versions have very fine threads that sometimes gall up upon removal. Some require heat. I have seen the odd stainless for parts as the action was ruined upon removal. Some smiths won't touch them, some will but likely at your own risk.

I just talked to a well known gunsmith in Saskatoon who did an xbolt a couple years ago. He says never again, anything but. He had to cut off the barrel and bore out the old barrel. It's really too bad, I very much wanted to make up a barrel nut system for my favorite rifle

I don't understand why anyone would want to convert a perfectly sound fool proof system as a threaded, head spaced and shouldered barrel, but you can have a custom nut and barrels made to fit your X Bolt.

I wouldn’t want to change it, but I like the action so much.
And when I shoot out the current barrel, would like to install a new barrel.

I have barreled a lot of Browning's. Usually no problem installing a new barrel. You find out quickly when removing the old barrel... it is either fairly easy without any problem, or there is a problem... the only problem I have encountered is I had one only stainless factory barrel where the threads galled badly. I re threaded the action ever so slightly larger and fitted a new stainless barrel...

I keep trying other rifles and keep going back to the xbolt. I want a 30 nosler, browning doesn't make one. If I decide that the 30 nosler is to much, with a barrel nut I can swap calibres without smithing. Even without a barrel nut, I still would love to rebarrel an xbolt
