Hello All,

I'm looking at an A5 Mag right now (I've always wanted an auto5) made in Japan. It has Invector plus tubes and a 28" barrel. The add suggests the gun is as new. My question is this: with the right set up, can the A5 mag be made to shoot 1 1/8 oz. sporting loads? I'd like to use the gun for everything and practicing with it in the summer is right up there on my things to do list. Any one with personal experience?

Anybody here still hunt with an auto 5? Experiences?

Thanks alot!

Stef

Its a trial and check thing if they are heavy 1 1/8oz. it may cycle 1275-95 fps if they are 1200 fps it may not it is not as simple as an adjustment you set it up to shoot light loads and see what happens also if the recoil spring is new that could make a difference find a used one that is softer and that may help.

I have some experence with a regular 2 3/4" A5. There is an adjustment you have to make if you want to shoot such a wide range of loads. There is a brass bushing inside the receiver that the barrel moves back and forth in, the bushing needs to be tight for heavy loads and backed off for the light loads to cycle the action.
