Received this Browning A5 along with a number of other firearms. Not my area so would appreciate some help to identify what I have, year of Manufacture and value. Serial number is OM and below that 18###. Barrel has a vent rib. Overall very nice shape. the scratches on the stock are not deep at all, just seems to be the varnish/lacquer that has been scuffed a bit.

0M is a 1960 Standard 12 gauge. I'm new to A5's, so I'm not sure about the value.

I saved a copy of this .pdf for future reference. http://www.nramuseum.com/media/940941/serialization-date%20of%20manufacture.pdf

Here's a clip from Brownings web page on dating your gun.
I'm not a 100% sure, but I think it's made in 1960 (0) and the 0M (M) designates standard weight shotgun.
Your third photo isn't exactly clear, but I can almost see ** stamped on the barrel just back from where the photo
runs out.
If this is correct, then the barrel left the factory with a fixed "Modified" choke.
Desirable.
Not a horrible example of an old A-5 round knobber.

From 1958 serial numbers were preceded by the date of manufacture. 8M=standard weight for 1958. 8G=light weight for 1958.
Example: 8M1000 = A 1958 Auto-5 standard weight shotgun with serial number 1000

Value is a tuff one on these as they seem to be slipping.
Funny, I was playing with mine tonight...........................................

a5s of that age are all over the map at all the local gun shops, 300 - 800 i have seen three in the last week and they dont seem to last long even at the high end.
