Being on the internet, especially here, has given the humbling knowledge that despite a lifetime enthusiasm my knowledge of double barrel shotguns is still like Swiss cheese. I never knew even knew there was a B25 shotgun and doubt if I ever even heard mention of it until this Facebook ad from site sponsor Wolverine Supplies showed up this morning. I trust the Wolverines won't mind if I quote their ad copy:

One of a kind shotgun, the only one in Canada!!!!!!

The B25 is widely regarded as the king of superposed shotguns and its hand engraved side-plates are often thought of as its crowning glory. There are four grades of enhancements for the B25, of which the Contre-Platine is the best there is. It is the only grade that includes side-plates as an option. The engraving is superb, and shown here is a small sample of the wide choice available. The wood is of the highest quality, while the checkering is lavishly intricate and generously applied. Teardrops have the effect of visually elongating the side-plated action and streamlining the overall profile of the gun. The 3-piece fore end is another example of the stocker’s art. Two plates of wood are seamlessly fitted to the barrels and held in position by three screws passing through the side ribs, with the ejector system fitted inside. Only the bottom piece moves in order to disassemble the barrels. All Contre-Platine B25s are delivered with a finely tooled leather case.

Followup on the Wolverine site reveals these are $100,000 guns, which doesn't mean I still don't want one. They seem to be Browning guns with a unique beauty; Wolverine has the "the Contre-Platine" version which they say is "the best there is." They're at least rare enough that I can't find an embeddable photo of one, but there are plenty on the Wolverine page here:

Anyone familiar with these guns?

They show up on British sites selling guns. For some over there what gun you show up with and what you wear for the Pheasant shoot is still more important than bringing ammo. Many of the highest grade guns by top end makers are now finding new homes in the Middle East, Russia and China these days along with collectable art, rare classic cars, mega yachts, etc. Follow the money.

In that price range, the gun is much about "bragging rights."
If money was no object, I'd be looking at Piotti or Famars, stocked to my specs, rather than Browning.
I like Browning Superposed, but $100k, really?
All dream stuff for most ordinary shooters.

I would prefer a vintage high grade superposed from the 50's and 60's at a fraction of the price of a new B25.
If I were to win a big dollar lottery I'd be off to Italy for a high grade Perazzi, Piotti etc.

And for the price , I would like locks behind those side plates.

This seems to be a good spot to put this video about gun snobs that was posted on the CCFR FB page the other day. Jon, the UK Gun Shop guy seen here, is one of the hardest working firearms video posters in Britain, I have to say, and does a good job too.
