So I recently found a 9.3x62 Browning bar
And I got it pretty cheap but when I got it the mag was so bent out of shape that it would only hold 3 rounds.
So I got it to fit the forth but it's not reliably feeding it's hitting the breach . So I bought a 30-06 mag thinking I could use it as a template to fix the first one and end up with a spare mag
But it's not the same built ,it does work flawlessly when I load the first in the pipe by hand and close the mag with a round in the chamber . But when I try and get it to feed the first round off the mag it's like the bullets are so tight it doesn't have the power to pick up that first round .

Any suggestions?

Are you saying the rounds are too tight in the mag that the factory spring doesn't have enough pressure to get the bolt to strip the first round off the top of the mag when loading with 4? What does it do with the first of 3?

I'm thinking that the magazine capacity for the 9.3x62 is three and not four .
But, I might be mistaken.

Ive run into this problem with one of my magazines in my Mk1 Type 2 BAR in 308win. With 4 rds in, the bolt is harder than normal to pull back but once I let the bolt go, it slams home as suppose to but with what seems like slightly less velocity but nonetheless ALWAYS goes in full battery. This ONLY happens when the hammer is not cocked. With a cocked hammer and you wouldnt even notice it. Now my other two mags for this gun load smoothly regardless if hammer is cocked or uncocked. This may or may not help yours but this is my experience.

A quick google confirms what FLHTCUI said, the Browning BAR in 9.3x62 has a THREE round magazine... If you want 4 in the rifle, put 3 in the mag, insert into rifle & chamber a round, then top up the mag...

And while the Browning BAR in 9.3x62 is a bit of a unicorn in North America, it seems fairly common in Europe... I'm sure another owner will pop in to confirm...

Cheers
Jay

I have one, and the BAR has a three round mag, in fact they have one model that is only 2 rounds in Europe.

You are asking the magazine to do something it cannot.

Thanks for confirming that patricksbb391.

OP, watch the first 30 seconds of this video. The guy shows how he tops up his BAR...
