Thanks in advance for advice.
Question: Should the gas piston have ridges inside?
Background: I bought a used MkII lightweight in 243.
When I took it to the range it would not cycle light rounds so I put in a Hornady superformance and it jammed with the brass still inside. I was able to pull it back to get the shell out but then it stuck open.
Took it apart and the aluminum action spring guide was bent.
I manufactured a new guide in bearing steel to replace the aluminum and test fit it.
When I test fit the assembly I realized I can feel ridges inside the piston.
I am wondering if this is normal or maybe a manufacturing defect that caused the bent guide.
Thanks.
