Browning BAR

I'm was stuck between the bar and the r1 I'm going with the r1 argo e 30 06 with sights, i really wanted a r1 in 338 win mag but could not find one

The only cons I can think of are the normal wear parts are getting tougher to locate ie: timing latch, timing latch pin, extractors, ejectors.
As has been said, mostly pro's.

Dang, gartzs me heart set awn a tree-oh-ate............maybe won day................

Kamloops gun show nawt that far away............or a sweetie-pye A-5 20. Kant half jest one........:nest:

Biggest cons are that Bars are heavy and rather expensive. Once you shoot one...they are addicting, accurate, easy to find scopes and mounts, easy on the recoil, and chambered in a lot of great calibers.

I am down too one, in 338 Win, which i find hard on recoil, but it is still not going anywhere. Seems a bit of a contradiction, but this particular 338 Bar does kick like a mule, but have had three others that were really nice including a 300 WM.

maybe you are just getting "soft"?:p
No, just kidding, I'm not a fan of recoil! I gots to gets to draw the line at 30-06, for me!

I have been in 5 car accidents, the last one just over 5 years ago took it out of me. My recoil tolerance is gone, i am getting soft, might sell a Rum or two. Bar rifles generally are soft kicking, but then i favor the Safari versions, not the lightweight Long and Short trac. So the auto action and the weight helps.

Edit that in .......that i just bought a Rem 660 in 350 rem mag....glutton for punishment.

BAR's are great guns but they are heavy and tend to balance forward which can be problematic if you're walking a lot with one. I liked mine but found it uncomfortable to carry all day. I like a gun to balance evenly between my hands and the BAR didn't do that but it was reliable and accurate.

I just bought a Safari in 300WM. I had Reliable Gun put on a factory front sight base and NECG rear... ###y. Skinner sights provided the front post to match heights. Talley quick detach rings and bases (all steel) and a Leupold VX-6 2-12x44 scope. It's awfully pretty, and it points like a trap gun.

Now if only the scope hadn't needed to go back t the shop for service without ever being mounted. Sigh.
