Hey Everyone,

Just looking for a bit of feedback from anyone who's rebarreled a BBR action. I have a 1979 in .30-06 and it looks like I can get a new old stock barrel for under a hundred bucks. Is it worth it to order the barrel for when this one's toast or should I just start saving my pennies (sorry, I guess I have to use nickels now) for a Weatherby Mark V when this old girl's done? The BBR/A-Bolt Field Service Manual says not to separate barrel from action, but I hear this action is used in a number of custom rifles. I really like it, it fits me well, but it is used and I found some throat erosion with my new bore scope.

Anyone with Browning experience willing to share thoughts? Thanks for the help. :d

$100 for a new factory barrel is a good deal. You should be able to have it installed, indexed and head spaced for $125 or so... a custom barrel installed would be $700 +. BBR and A Bolt barrels are usually tough to remove. The thread fit is very tight. I think that has to do with factory production methods.
