Browning Belgian A-5 no pistol grip?

Anyone have any info on these?

Neighbour was showing me some guns he might sell and pulled that out. I've seen A-5's before but never with a checkered straight stock. Can't seem to google one up.

Looking for a rough estimate or a model designation. It's not a safe queen.

Yes the English stock variants were very common in the earliest models. You should be able to find a picture of John Moses Browning holding one from when he first invented the gun. It has been "the" picture displayed for 100+ years showing off his invention. Google Browning A-5 English stock variant and you'll see all the pics of them you want in google images. Go on the Shotgun World site in the Browning lovers forum, lots of info there.

How did I not know about the English stock!?! Better question is why didn't I noticed that John Browning was holding one in his picture!?! Thanks a lot OP, now I want one!
