BROWNING BL-22 FLD opinion

I recently got BROWNING BL-22 FLD and was shooting at the Target Sports range.
I found that it is not very save to load the gun because you have to lean forward and load bullets to the tube next to the barrel.
I was too close to firing line.
Any opinion?

How is it not safe to load? Make sure the chamber is empty and the action is closed, then keeping your barrel pointed down range, feed in the ammo, close the feed tube rod, point the gun at the backstop and cycle the action... you are ready to fire... simple... and nobody got hurt.

Actions closed, hammer down. Lay facing downrange. Load from the side, tilt the muzzle up 45 degrees or so and plop them down the tube.

Your issue seems more like an issue with the range. Can you not move back slightly so you are not leaning into the firing lane, maybe hold rifle by barrel to get loading gate closer to you.
