I recently picked up a 1977 Browning BL-22 grade 2 rifle made in Japan. From several other pictures ive seen online the engraving in the receiver appears to be blue, on this one it is silver.
Is this a special edition or different series than the rest? Anyone’s help would be appreciated to know more about this, Thank you.

That is after market you could buy the compound in silver or gold May a firearm had it ripped into the engraving

Ahh ok. That makes a lot of sense now, thank you. Whoever completed the work did a very nice job, it looks like factory work, would you think this would lower the value of the firearm? From what I’ve seen on Brownings website I believe it’s the grade 2 classic model. Thank you.

I wouldnt worry about it devaluing the gun.
It is a shooter and nothing more with an added "tasteful" modification.
You do not mention if there is supporting owners manual or original box hence my opinion on collect ability and the silver mod to the scroll.
$600.00 on a good day and of late my thoughts on gun value has been off of late.
Enjoy the Lever gun for what it is.
