Browning BL-22 Trigger Pull

I bought one last year and the trigger pull is nasty at 7.5 pounds. Even my old Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 is better at 5.5 pounds. Do the Browning triggers/sears smooth out over time? Is there any way to smooth it out. It's a beautiful little rifle but the trigger Pull is really frustrating me.

Lots of complaint on the net, zero info on how to fix (other than cutting hammer spring). Some say polish the trigger parts helps, I'll try it sometime.
