So i was bored and decided to decifer my serial number of my browning bl .22 lever action. But what i dont understand is whats the difference with a grade 1 and grade 2? from what i find i have a grade 1 from 1976.. Fairly new investment i paid $100 from a guy at work and its in mint condition. Anyone else have one of these?

You mention "Type 1 & 2", you also mention "Grade I & II".

With Browning, both terms are used and have completely different meanings.

"Type" usually refers to a major design change within a Model series.

"Grade" usually refers to enhancements such as engraving or more desirable wood.

ok i see, this is what i pulled off brownings website;

In 1975 Browning standardized its serial number identification which it followed until 1998.

1. Serial Number
beginning with 01001
at the start of each year.

2. Date of Manufacture
is a two digit code

Z=1
Y=2
X=3
W=4
V=5
T=6
R=7
P=8
N=9
M=0

3. BL-22 Type

126=Grade 1
226=Grade 2

So it would be safe to assume that the grade 2 is moreless just has some cosmetic etching and whatnot? Mine is pretty smoothe and sleak with not a single etch or design.
