Browning BLR 81 vs Pistol Grip

Hey, looking at these two rifles online says they both have the same drop at comb and heel. To me it looks like the model 81 (straight grip) has alot more drop to line your eyes up with the open sights. It looks like the Pistol Grip model has a higher and flatter cheek rest to line your eyes up with a scope. Does anybody else see what I am looking at here. Anybody own a Pistol grip model that can comment on drop with a scope attached?

I am in a toss up between these two models, I like that the pistol grip model comes with sling studs already installed. I will be installing a scope as I have the perfect Leupold VX1 2-7x33 ready to go. I just wanted to see if anybody else can comment on the stock drop of the pistol grip model. Thanks
 
These two models feel completely different. Do not decide what to buy without shouldering both. One will feel much better than the other. I preferred the straight grip much, much more than the pistol grip.

with a short action i ll go straight or pistol. with magnum or long action action pistol even if i prefer the straight just a matter of handling the recoil...

Looks like the OP did a 'post and run' here. Anyway medved, mine is in .270 WSM and I still like the straight grip. If it were a big magnum I would be interested to see the difference in the ability to 'hold' some of the recoil. Makes sense to me though. :)

i dont own one anymore but i shot 308, 30-06, 300 win and 450 marlin and seems this was my conclusion ...

my next one will be a take down in 308 stainless. the 30-06 may be another option but i dont like that much the long action on the blr but this is just me ...
 
I was considering a BLR as my first rifle and found I prefered the pistol grip.

Ended up going with an X-Bolt 30-06...

However I'm thinking this would be an excellent rifle, perhaps best with a shorter action?

Understood. I don't have your experience with lever guns, but, again, it makes sense. I must find someone with a 300 win or the 450 Marlin to test your theory. :)

For what it is worth, my Browning BLR short action (straight grip) in .270 WSM is my favourite gun. The ergonomics are as perfect as they can get for my way of shouldering/cycling a rifle. Hands down. You just may find the same thing if you ever acquire one.
 
I really prefer the straight grip stock over the pistol grip as I feel the pistol grip stock is too chunky in the pistol grip. The slight schnabel forend is nice on the pistol grip browning though.
