Hi Guys,

Well, I've decided I just "have to have" a lightweight Browning BLR in .325 WSM. :)

I'm trying to decide between a standard LW model, or the LW takedown version...there's only an $80 difference in price.

I'm not sure how much I'd use the takedown feature, and I am somewhat concerned about the possibility of changing zero with the takedown model...

Considering the fact that I sell or trade everything I get, fairly quickly as a rule... My one thought is that the takedown model may be more attractive for resale.

Your thoughts, esteemed shooting brethren?

Jeff.

Why? I'm on the fence too. So please explain the Takedown ppreference.

Also....OP. Why that calibre ? I was thinking .308 myself, but i'm always curious about other options.

i have a blr in 30-06 , if a take down option was available at the time , i would have got it .

look at the savage lever actions , what is getting the most money ?
the take down models .

in fact it is really difficult to buy one as they get snapped up so quickly .

myself i like the idea of being able to break the rifle down and transport it in a back pack without anyone knowing what is inside

I have read reviews online tonight that suggest these rifles are very good at maintaining their POI after take down and back together again...even when the scope is mounted on the receiver. I'm tempted to buy one just to try this out for myself. :)

OK, I'll be the dissenting opinion. I'm a real blr fan. Last one I bought was in 450 about 2 yrs ago.
I looked at the takedown version, and while if I was heading on an African hunt it'd be my first choice; other than than I'll pass, thanks.

The system looks good, but like anything mechanical the more you use it the sloppier it'll get.
Admittidly though, when I purchase a Browining I plan on having it for awhile, if it becomes a favorite, it'll never leave.
And keep in mind too, those silver/grey stocked one's will never find a home in my cabinet either, and while I love my plastic go cup I'll take my stock in walnut please. Plus I'm getting old and don't like change. :)
So maybe I'm just out of style, but I was in the mall yesterday with the wife and daughter, appears my clothes are in style again, seems to happen every 7 yrs or so. ;)

I have had two BLR's since 2004.
On a particularly humid hunting trip rust had bubbled up from under the bluing on the barrel after 3 days. This was the guns maiden trip.

On the seat beside the BLR sat a pre 64 with no bluing left. Not a speck of rust.

Could have been a bad run. Dont know. I was very disappointed.

I should think so...did you make a warranty claim about it?
