Got one in 30 06 and 22-250. Had em both for around 15 years. Ive never changed any parts out. I find now they tend to be very sensitive in winter to light primer strikes. This has happened a few times and ive cleaned em out and blew them out and they were good tell some moisture or snow got in them. How long is the firing pin, spring etc good for? When should they be changed out? Ammo is all factory as well.

My BLR (308) was purchased 1977 and used to hunt over 30 years so likely no more than 600 rnds though the action… never misses a beat. Yours could be a newer model?

I have seen problems develop because of fouling/corrosion surrounding the hammer spring. This lightens the hammer strike.
The spring and the hammer strut are located inside a tube in the grip. The stock retaining screw threads into the back of this tube. To access it, you must remove the butt. To remove the butt, you must remove the recoil pad. The two screws will be hidden, having been installed through slits in the rubber. Lubricate the screwdriver so that the pad is not gnawed when the screws are removed. Once the stock is off, the tube with the hammer spring can be removed, cleaned and lightly lubricated with a quality lube. One that won't go gummy or freeze.
