I have an old BLR .308 made in Belgium. The rear stock has a few cracks in it and I'm wondering if I should refinish it or spend the money to replace it?

If I refinish it I'll probably sand off the checkering since it is really worn. There is a chip in the tang that may need to be filled. I'm not really sure if filling it and gluing it will keep it from cracking again and a replacement might be the way to go???

Any thoughts?

A factory replacement may cost $300-$400 if the rest of the rifle is in 80%+ condition then spending the money would be fine you could also by a raw stock from M+S stocking for likely $125-$175 and finish it yourself and have a nice stock. It's all about the money.

A factory Browning stock will be about $200 not including taxes and shipping and possibly duty if comes over the boarder.

Does M+S have a website or phone number? Are they in Canada?
