can anyone tell me if the browning boss system is a good piece of kit i mean how well does it realy work?

I have never shot one. But if I see one pull up next to me at the range, I usually pack up and leave. A little on the loud side for me.

They do take out some of the recoil but I don't want to have to wear ear plugs when I go hunting there a little loud.

Put on the CR piece in place of the ported brake and they are no louder than any other rifle.

While not pretty the "tune-able" barrel weight does work to increase accuracy especially if you don't hand-load.

I have a 308 with the boss. I didn't like the boss because it was too loud for hunting, so I bought the boss CR. I played with mine quite a bit when I first got it. It was my experience that adjusting the boss moved the point of impact a surprising amount, but I could never seem to get it to shrink groups. I ended up getting frustrated with it and left it set at an arbitrary point and tailored hand loads for it, the rifle does shoot nicely. When I bought it I thought that the aesthetics of the boss would not bother me, but it does. I plan on doing some more experimenting this summer.

i have a BROWNING A-BOLT S/S STALKER [300 WSM] and the CR is included for free when u buy the rifle with the BOSS ..yes the BOSS makes a lot of noise ,but i wear ear protection when shooting on the range ..ear plugs when i hunt [have not tried my CR yet and don't intend to either]
