Well my wife just got herself a browning bps micro 20 gauge, and even i love the thing my wife's a lefty so the bottom eject was a real advantage but not the reason for picking it! really it was the raw quality of it you know it had that "feel" of it thing going on and the nice walnut "also a big deal" and the fact that its a pump action that sold her and myself and it was upon firing that its place in my safe was set in stone, its made me a fan of bottom eject systems.....looking forward to my Remington 29 for my antiques stash and when the time arises ill be getting my self a Browning bps 12 gauge

just wanted to share :) if your looking make sure you look at the Browning......not really sure what others opinions are but were fans

Thats nice as they are pretty much the same shotgun.
Designed by the genius himself John Moses Browning.
Sold under the Remington name (17 and 31) for years until Ithica copied and sold as the 37 when the patent ran out.
Currently sold as the Browning BPS.

Similar...not the same...not even pretty much the same....
 
Browning lengthened the receiver in 12, 16 and 20 bores to accommodate the newer design features including 3" cartridges. (not the 16chamber) I have owned a 20 and a 16 and both had way too much reach for the slide handle resulting in an awkward shooting stance. The micro has a short stock and does feel better but at the cost of reduced LOP. Build quality is there none the less.

Different safety, different shell lifter, different shaped receiver, different chamber lengths, different action bars, different balance / weight / feel, different felt recoil....well, I guess they are both bottom eject pumps. 870s and model 12s are pretty much the same too...:rolleyes:

Come on dude, both guns are great but have significant differences.

I guess your right they are different in the same way the model 70 is different than a Mauser 98. Check out the link I provided.

I think that's a good analogy, they have obvious lineage and aside from cosmetic differences and location of the safety the mechanics of the gun are strikingly similar.

P.S for the more = better crowd the BPS offers double the action bars ;)

Meh...I still say significantly different, diagram notwithstanding. We are all entitled to our opinions.

My model 70 XTR looks nothing like a Mauser other than a wing safety...

Congrats to the O.P. On the acquisition of a great gun.
 
Love mine in 12 ga and going to own a twenty some day soon. Only thing I don't like is pinching the end of my finger the odd time between the barrel lug and fore end when racking in a new round. Most other pumps accommodate for this problem and you would think that by now Browning would have too. Never handled a micro model but would be a safety hazard to watch for in youngsters and newbies if is the same as mine
 
well i sometimes get in the habit of pointing at the target with my index finger I guess. No need to hold forward pressure on the slide with a BPS either like remingtons and mossbergs and pretty much impossible to pinch my finger on my winchesters. Would help if the finger grooves didn't extend right out to the end on the BPS.
