I'm looking at one in 20ga as I'm looking shorter lighter shotgun for hunting in thick cover and pheasants, and like to see it anyone has any experience with this model. Thanks

I had one. Quick to the shoulder with the english stock & 22 inch barrel. Only complaint about the BPS is the aluminum vent rib... You have to be careful not to damage it... Otherwise a good gun!

Cheers

I had a BPS Browing in 28 gauge.Nice shotgun, but a bit heavy in my taste for an upland field gun.For myself the Ithaca Model 37 would be my pick.

Have one in 20g with the 22" barrel. I'm not the biggest fan of english stocks, and the gun could be a little lighter, but its built well and is very solid. I wish I would have grabbed one of the old winchester 1300 upland models when they were still in production...would have been a bit lighter I'm guessing.

The BPS Upland Spl in 20ga works very well for Upland (and Turkey) in Ontario. Despite the short 22in barrel, the OAL (due to the longer receiver) is quite accommodating for effective wingshooting. Personally, I like the features such as tang safety, bottom load/eject plus the ability to extract live rounds from the mag tube without a need to cycle the pump.....quite helpful when one is moving from cover to cover in the Grouse bush. Browning pumps are very well finished albeit heavy, an inherent case for most shotgun models.

I sold mine when I found a 20ga Remington 870 LW Special Field that weigh 6lbs.

Never really noticed the recoil, shot mostly #8 for woodcock & grouse. But did use it for waterfowl as well with 3 inch steel shells and didn't find it to be unreasonable...

Very negligible felt recoil experienced with the 20ga (it is around 6.75lbs).....that included shooting quite a few slugs at a single range session.

I would suggest testing both the BPS and the Wingmaster for the best fit for you personally......3macs1 is much respected for his Remington knowledge......He also has the BPS.....Not sure what he thinks, but for me, the two fit me differently, and I shoot one way better than the other.

BPS fits me and im attract by the english stock style.

i never felt the recoils on the wood and synthetic stocks but the design was putting me on asking.

thank for helping me on that one.

I have had a BPS Upland Special since the 1980's. It is a 12 guage with choke tubes, and I have put a lot of shells through it under various conditions. It is short and handy, and I have never had any problems with it. Some people do have a bit of a jamming problem but in 99% of the cases I would say this is an operator error, with the person short-stroking the action and not cycling it properly. That can happen with ANY pump shotgun.
