anyone own one of these? looking for a nice dedicated upland gun for quail and ruffies. maybe some blues. 20ga.

see them for sale at wholesale, but never met an owner.

Works great! Slightly heavy and swings a little like a brick or a club, but it is my go to for all sorts of shooting. I like the thumb safety.

Well I have one in 12. Swings easy and smooth for me. I use it for everything now. If you know someone who has a BPS, ask them to shoot it. They are a great gun to shoot. There are lighter guns, but I feel less recoil from the BPS. Solid built and quiet accurate shooting slugs if you ever choose to use it for that.

just so we have this strait, I'm talking about this firearm:

I've never handled one, but club & heavy sure seem hard to belive.

I have an upland special in 12 gauge and it was my #1 for a number of years - especially for field hunting geese. Sitting up from a row of barley, found it mounted fast and I liked it far better than my longer barreled shotguns.

The straight stock is ok, but if you are tall (I am 6' 4") you have to watch you dont punch yourself in the nose as it is shorter than most. It is light and easy to carry, and does come up fast. I also have a slug barrel for it as well.

That being said, you need to practice with it! I tried duck hunting with it this fall after not shooting it for a couple of years and did horrible - with that short barrel, you need to focus on keeping it moving or you will shoot behind your target on crossing shots. In the last couple of years, I have been using my Benelli Nova - but needed a short firearm to fit in my baggage for this years hunt.

Really, really nice pump gun. I was very close to buying one this year but in the end I decided this was he year for an o/u so I bought a Franchi. As far as shotguns go the 20ga upland is next on the list.
