The rear sight base screw keeps coming loose on my Buckmark. This always throws off the elevation once I get it zeroed. Not sure if I should loctite this part? Not sure if I would ever have to take it apart for cleaning?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Yes, washer is still there. Just doesn't bite into the plastic counter sink.

Is the rear sight base screw the correct length? Wondering if it's bottoming out before it makes solid contact with the lock washer. Have not had this problem with any of my Buckmarks. If it is, I would try replacing the lock washer first, before I used Locktite. I found with .22 ammo being fairly dirty, I would take the sight base off every couple of thousand rounds or so and give everything a good wipe down.

I use Blue loctite on my guns, if I dont things get loose. And even if they still get loose, with loctite I wont loose the screw or bolt, wihtout it I would end up looking for the screw or bolt on the floor at the range

Depending on the location of the fastener and how hot/warm it gets you can decide on what strength loctite to use. You cant go wrong with blue, Ive never had a problem using blue on anything from motorcycles, to machinery at work, or my guns....Red can need heat to remove it, but sometimes on parts that get warm or hot blue is not strong enough.

Either way you go IMO loctite cant hurt on a metal to metal fastener
