I am looking to buy a browning buckmark. They seem to have a lot of different models which is good but it is making it hard to pick one. I want it in Stainless and somewhere between 4-5.5 inch barrel. Don't really care for a rail as I would never mount optics on a handgun. I see the standard grips and the urx grips but without actually holding one it is hard to tell which one feels better. I have not seen one at any shop near me and the guys at the range seem to only have the rugers. Also it looks like some of the frames are plastic, are they plastic or steel/alloy? Any help would be great.

Thanks

I had a 5.5" slab side bbl, urx, with walnut grips and fibre optic sight. It was very nice and I frequently kick myself in the a$$ for selling it. Ran great and was very accurate. It had an adjustable rear sight as well. The frame on mine was alloy i believe....definitely not plastic. I cannot speak on the regular grip as mine had finger grooves. Very solid choice for a .22 IMHO. If you buy brand new just run mini-mags through it for the first 1000 to break er in and you'll love it.

Comfortable (though the frame isnt very wide, better for small to medium hands), very reliable and easy to print very tight groups.

The frames are alloy and the slides are either stainless or blued steel. The regular grips are composite while the URX grips are rubber soft touch material. I like the URX grips better than the standard, wood or laminate. Extra mags for the Buckmark at Cabelas is $29.99. I'm looking for a Buckmark Contour URX 5.5" but can't find one anywhere so I bought a S&W 22a-1 for now.

I have the Buck Mark Contour with the URX grips, and I've owned another version. Personally, I love the URX grips...it's the grips that really set this little gun apart from the rugers imho. Dont buy a Buck Mark with standard grips without first trying the URX grips....I'll be surprised if you don't feel a noticable difference.

i agree with most said above, i own a stainless urx plus with the fingergroove grips in laminate and out of my collection this is definantly one of my most comfortable guns to hold, the sights on it are firber optic front with adjustable rear and its because of this gun that now any other gun i own i want the same sight set up, i really hope you can find one to hold and maybe even try out because i'm convinced you'll buy it if you get the chance

I've had a UDX with rosewood grips and blued, slab sided 5.5" barrel, for a few months.

I liked the idea of the contoured grip, however. the grip is a little small for my large hands. It can be a little fussy with bulk 40 gr. 1200 fps ammunition, resulting in a couple of stove pipes per 100 rounds. Much happier with the 1500fps lighter (think 32 gr.) ammo. My buddy's Ruger will eat any ammo, but didn't come with fibre optic sights, and is a pain to field strip. The URX appears to have slightly larger grips, and may have been a better choice for me.

I had this stainless camper. Only had it for 9 months. I cant really explain why but out of all the 22"s i had, i found this pistol boring to shoot so i sold it.

grr i wish i could find some buckmarks in my area. I don't feel like driving an hour or so just to hold one. Oh well looks like i will be buying a urx and if i don't like it i will buy another one. Thanks for all the input guys.

They are very comfortable (URX grip) and pretty accurate, heavy too which cancels all the recoil and kinda makes it boring to shoot. I had one and sold it but kept my GSG which is far from being the same quality or accuracy but it's just more fun to shoot.
