Has anyone ever seen a failure of a Browning Citori receiver?

I have an Citori XT Trap. It has seen many thousands of rounds by me, and unknown number, but well used before I bought it from another CGNer many years ago.

I was shooting trap when the release lever became very stiff. Action would open half way, then it became stiff. Same on closing. Then a couple shots later, had to put it over my knee to open the action.

Upon cleaning, a piece of metal fell out. On closer inspection, it is part of the boss where the right hammer pivots. I believe it is part of the main receiver forging. I guess the piece became lodged in the release or locking lug mechanism.

I was expecting to replace some parts, but disappointed to find it is a failure of the receiver itself.

Is something like that repairable?

(not sure why Imgur images aren't showing)

I've seen lots of high mileage Citori's and I think this type of failure is pretty unusual. There's lots of lightly used XT Traps around, don't think I'd bother with a repair if it's part of the receiver.

That's what I'm thinking too. If it can be repaired, I'm guessing weld and machine the hammer pivot boss, then re-heat treat the receiver. That would likely destroy the silver nitride receiver finish too. Don't know who would even tackle it, if it's possible. Cost would likely make it unfeasible.
