What's a reasonable value on a very good - excellent condition Citori Upland Special in 28ga with 26" barrel?

I'm thinking $1500, just curious what others think as well. It's uncut/molested with a Pachmayr pad on it.

Thanks

Patrick

Well seeing as how the exact gun you described is currently for sale for $995, I'd say that's approx the used value. If it was a different gun with the Invector chokes and orig box, I'd say you could easily get your $1500. If this used example you're referring to is indeed the one advertised, keep in mind that is an original version Citori, easily distinguished by the rounded cuts on the bottom of the receiver. As well, I believe that gun was catalogued as a Sporter, not an Upland. Don't think they were called Uplands until much later, and Uplands were equipped with 24"bbls. The 26" and 28"bbl guns (with English stocks) were called Sporters, and the later versions Superlights. Also the added pad is not stock, and depending on the buyer may or may not hurt value a bit. I personally see no need for a pad on a 28ga, and prefer the look of the plate on the Brownings. If you were going to use it primarily for clays, then maybe the pad is a welcome addition. Would certainly provide better grip on the shoulder. Again, that's something a potential buyer will either like or dislike. If the intended purchase was to flip the gun for profit, you've greatly narrowed your field of buyers with the gun being a 28ga, an old version Citori, and fixed chokes. After initial cost plus taxes, I don't think you'd pocket enough to really make it worth the hassle. But if you're talking about a completely different gun, then all this is moot, and you will need to provide some more info and pictures so we can better help you evaluate your gun :)
How's that for input?

You referring to the used one that's at a certain dealer right now for about $500 less?

Of course he is :stirthepot2:

Seems like a nice shotgun but Browning slaps a set of 28ga barrels to there 20ga frame which is not my cup of tea for a 28ga. The ad on there site says it has some bluing loss as well, any one know if this model has the extended trigger guard?

I've passed on purchasing guns for this reason. Something doesnt sit right with me when someone describes a gun as being in excellent condition followed by photos of it being showcased on cement. I never truely understood that..
Same here, Some people don’t show much regard for firearms , they look at them as a tool, others ( like me) look at them as a thing of beauty and take care of them in many ways, cement or asphalt is for driving and walking on, not to SHOW a fine firearm or any as a matter of fact

Agree....my pops taught me when I was young to never put my gun on the floor....I guess a lesson that stuck with me. It sometimes bothers me to lay my gun down on well maintained grass, let alone anything else...
