Browning finish removal

Anyone got a good way to get that gloss garb off a BLR ? I would rather not use the stripper semi liquid slop on the market like circa. Not much in the mood for scraping and sanding forever. Wondering if there's a product that's less work and more over less sloppy.

Nope, no miracles here. Use the stripper then scrape and sand, or just sand if the finish is thinner. If you use decent pads on a random orbit sander, it goes quick, but the pads tend to gum up.

I've got a couple that have been waiting for the same treatment. Been putting it off for a long time.
 
What about the worlds finest grit of aluminum oxide sand blast ?

I have used the "Circa Slop" many times on Brownings to remove the finish as the wife likes the oiled look better but will only shoot Brownings. It takes a little bit of time but it doesn't disturb the grain or size of the wood. If it was easy everyone would do it!
 
Wood strippers are anaerobic, or work with out air. I see people put it on and continue to brush it around, this kills it with air. In the body shop I worked in we stripped Corvettes often, we used Captain Sam stripper. Put on generous layer of stripper, cover it with a plastic sheet and leave it till it stops bubbling the finish. Then rinse with water and then scrub with Scotch Brite and acetone. I use this method on stocks with good success, and very little sanding.
 
Most of the 'gloss garb' is polyurethane. Limits what will work to remove it as it soaks into the wood pores fairly deep. Sanding and scraping will be required after using a chemical anyway. Like timsesink says, if its worth doing, do it right.
Sand blasting will wreck the wood and you'll have to sand to get a smooth finish back.

Even pulled it out of the grain. Did I ever stumble onto thee product. I may take some 000 or 0000 steel wool and that will be ALL that it needs.

Sorry, but just to be clear, what did you end up using? I've got a beautiful Browning Citori 2 barrel trap set but the stock has some scuffs and small marks and I'd like to refinish it but the difficulty removing the urethane coating has been putting me off trying.
