So I thought I would post my experiences my Maxus for those who are interested. I received this shotgun from Browning Canada on there dealer incentive program for a whooping 50% off MSRP. Gun totaled 1108$ tax in to my door. My shooting experience has not been that great so far..

It currently has about 800 rounds threw it as it stands, with the first 2 boxes being 3 1/2" 1 3/8 BB @ 1550 for a good break in.

After that mostly target loads experimenting with different stuff for patterns and groupings. I found that anything less then 1 1/8 oz @ 1250 fps would not cycle or eject, so I primarily stuck with Win AA 1 1/8oz 1300 fps. That shell would give 100% reliability for the first 100 rounds and then quickly drop off to single shot, until a very extensive cleaning was performed to include the action spring in the stock. I also noticed the gun was extremely dirty after each range trip, even with premium ammo.

The real kicker was a month ago at about the 600 round mark I was at the sporting clays range, practicing for duck season when I heard a very weird "PING". I took the handguard off to find a shattered gas piston, about in 4 pieces. So I swore, kicked some dirt, and went home.

Called Browning Canada to explain and see what they would do. Well first off I called Browning in the U.S first by accident, and they told me to give them my shipping address as they were going to send a new piston express to me for free. Only after discovering I was in Canada they said "Sorry, we don't ship to Canada. Call Browning Canada and they'll sort you out".

So this is what they said "Browning shotguns don't have warrenties"..... What? I explained that I had actually called the U.S first and they were going to send me one free of charge, but that didn't matter to them. I was told to bring it to a repair center for a replacement part. I asked if they could ship me a new piston if I paid for it over the phoneas duck season was approaching, again a "no". They only ship to repair centers.

I remembered the fast and furious Vin Diesel line

"I NEVER NARKED ON NOBODY"

Well I did, and it worked. I called up Browning U.S and explain how Browning Canada was treating its customers. He was shocked and took my information. 15 min later Browning Canada called my cell phone wanting my shipping address to send me a new gas piston for free, with an apology....

I don't know how many people Browning in Quebec has bullied before me, or what was said to them from big brother, but it must've scared them some.

After replacing the gas piston it Cycles 100% even with 1oz loads, and I've noticed a good extra 3 feet distance in the ejection pattern, no more 100 rounds limit. So I'm happy and frustrated at them same time.

Why did this happen in the first place on a 1900$ shotgun.

Why is Browning Canada such a D%€K head.

Felt kinda good to have the big brother fight my battles for me and restored faith in the company.

Just a thought and honest review

You are not the first person to get the run around from Browning Canada, and you won't be the last. Perhaps if you had spoken in French, they might have been more willing to assist you? As for the Maxus, it sounds like your gun simply had a defective piston. As to the $1900 price for a Maxus, that is ridiculous.

Savage Canada is horrible. I had to make a call to Savage USA. They sorted everything out professionally.

Glad you got your shotgun going again. I've always loved the Maxus.
