Browning Maxus

I bought ome from a friend who needed cash - NIB!
Ii took it out the other day because it's supposed to be so soft in the recoil department, and reliable.
Well, I KNOW they are reliable, two friends at the club have been shooting the crap outta theirs for a year and haven't needed top tear them down nor have they jammed.
However, in the recoil department, I couldn't tell any difference from my old model 1100.
Nice guns, but they are missing a barrel and a trigger!!:D

I tried one on a round of skeet tonight. I used Gun Club 2 3/4 1 1/8 #8 which for me is a very heavy load. For me I thought the recoil was light and the gun pointed really nice. I shot only one round and my friend shot 2 skeet and 2 trap with no hickups. For me this gun would need an adjustabler comb. To the OP, if the gun fits or you can make it fit, I do not think you can go too far wrong.

Good timing, I just came to the hunting/sporting shotgun forum to ask about some feedback on this gun.

It seems they are not discussed very often or they are uncommon shotguns... any reason why? I was looking to upgrade from my BPS this fall.

Thanks for the comments so far.

Fro waht I have seen they are danged near bullet proof!!
One of te fellas thinks nothing about shooting those dead coyote heavy loads in t for snow geese, and I've seen him drop one in on the skeet range with a 2 3/4" skeet rounbd right after it, no sweat!
he hasn't cleaned it in a year BTW, NOT something I would recommend, but it does speak to the reliability!:p

One our clubs newest skeet shooters needed a skeet gun, and after much research online, he chose a Maxus. It points nice, shoots fairly soft, and it easily cycles lighter target loads.

I''ve had a 3" chambered 26" barreled one for about a year now. Switched from a Gold Hunter because I wanted something a bit more weather resistant. Used it on some upland, pigeons around the farm, a turkey, and some clays. I think it's a great all-around shotgun that is light enough to carry anywhere. Reliability has been flawless. I still prefer my Citori GTS strictly as a clays gun since I find the extra weight swings a bet better, but like the Maxus better as an all-arounder.
