Browning Maxus

I have a buddy who purchased his ( hunter model) in early spring 2012 and her really shoots it well. No issues with cycling light loads and is a really slick working autoloader.
I pointed it a few times and it points really nice.
 
quite simply the best handling most reliable auto shotgun I have owned in 30+ years of waterfowling. HIGHLY recommend this gun to anyone.
 
Heard nothing but great things, has really cool features like speed load and mag cut off. Great gun for the price super soft shooter. Was stuck between one of these and a benelli M2. After holding them both I went with the M2 as the Maxus did not feel as sturdy. Results prove it's built to last but not for me.

When you say reduced loads you mean 7/8 oz correct. I usually buy my new guns when they are first introduced and my maxus was no exception however I thought they were originally designed for 1oz and up but most just happened to fire the 7/8 with no problems. Has that changed??? I don't recall browning saying they would fire 7/8 originally

would have to look into that one ...

was down visiting the father in law and we did some target in the back forty ... brought some recuded recoil slug loads and they didnt cycle (my bad for not trying them out first) ... never had an issue in the past with slugs... tried target trap loads and same thing .. didnt cycle. In law had a few home loads in shot and they cycled fine ... little more kick to em though "). Was wondering if I had dirty parts but just gave it a good cleaning ... but know thinking this one needs the heavier/normal loads ... will give browning call this week and see what they say .. browning US that is.

I dug out my Maxus manual and you were right .. it says "Maxus 12 guage models with shoot 1 oz and heavier factory lead and steel field loads (3" and 3-1/2" chambers). I also spoke to brown US technical and mentioned I when shooting recuded recoil or target loads it will not cycle, and was this normal or do I have a problem. He stated that is normal and the must be field loads or they dont have enough jam to cycle properly.

When I mean by reduced loads are "reduceed/maanged recoil" loads and "target" loads. For slugs I have a pretty big selection ... ie Hornaby SST, winchester XP3, Federal Power Shok, Challanger Magnum, Winchester super x magnum, remington slugger magnum .. all 2-3/4 1 oz slug except the XP3's which are 3" - 300gr ... and all cycle like a dream . I purchased a bunch of Remingtion Managed Recoil Slugger, 2-3/4 - 1 oz and they did not work with a bean. Gave a bunch to my father in law for his pump and saved a few for my o/u. I tried some Winchester 2-3/4" super target 1-1/8 oz 8 shot for fun and same thing ... they wouldnt cycle. Also put a few hornaby critical defence and zombie 00 buck thru it and they also will not cycle consistantly, the odd one did. Father in law had a few 3" goose loads and they cycled just fine.

Glad to find out this is normal ... and also that I know what this baby likes to eat ...
