Sooooo I've been posting in battle rifle forum quite a bit trying to drum up some interest for my machine shop venture, starting with direct thread M1A and M305 muzzle brakes etc.

Was also thinking though, I know (or at least I've heard) that the U.S has banned the export of MG parts? Are there any parts kits in Canada? People with parts kits, but needing semi-auto side plates? They're not exactly a difficult thing to machine based on the drawing I dug up online. Just throwing it out there.

All the side plates would need to be new. All 5 of them. If you use a side plate that was originally part of a full auto receiver, the lab will gong it as a converted auto.

RCMP Lab Opinion...

"- Browning Machine Gun receivers (and other similar guns with a box type receiver construction) - the five sided box consisting of top and bottom plates, left and right side plates and the front trunnion block is the receiver/frame for all purposes of the Criminal Code, Section 2 definition of "firearm". - for Regulatory purposes, when the five sided box receiver/frame is further disassembled, the receiver/frame component plate where the manufacturer information and serial number are found, is used to establish the description for the purpose of firearms registration. - the classification of this firearm as a semi automatic firearm is based on the presumption that none of the original five (5) receiver components were reused. This is what was understood to be the meaning of the claim by the manufacturer that the firearm is a "newly manufactured as a semi-automatic firearm". - the Criminal Code PART III, Section 84 para (c) definition - prohibited firearm means, "an automatic firearm, whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger".

even if you made all 5 parts you still need a set of rivits and the insides need to be machined as well (bolt and such to SA only) you might contact marstar they likely have FA ones that they could cut up and bring in as parts
