So Im lazing here watching 'battle 360'

They descibe a tail gunner in a Avenger who has a breach explosion on one of the rear facing Browning .30s

The 'ejector' blows out and hits the gunner in the leg...

brownings dont even have an extractor in the usual sense of the word....or am I missing something?

If a browning is cocked, and the chambered round was still live and remained in the chamber, the second round will end up poking into the primer of the first round. This can cause a problem if the chambered round then ignites.

The odds of it happening are pretty small mind you. The T slot in a browning does a good job pulling on cases.

Probably a Browning ANM2 .30 cal which has a cartridge extractor to extract the cartridge from the belt and position it into he T lips of the breech block face. I can see breech explosion blowing off the head or the extractor claw as the retaining pin is not that large, ricocheting off the top cover and back down out of the action. Seen stranger things. Mind you with a cyclic rate of 1150 rpm, it was a fast action.
